TNT Sports pundit Rio Ferdinand didn’t hesitate for one moment with his major Manchester United prediction for Red Devils boss Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford.
Ruben Amorim has faced a real challenge as Manchester United manager since he left Portuguese outfit Sporting CP and arrived at Old Trafford in 2024.
The 40-year-old United manager made a name for himself in his native homeland before the Red Devils turned to him as Erik ten Hag’s successor at Old Trafford.
Erik ten Hag’s reign as United manager came to an end last October after the Red Devils sacked the former Ajax boss following a poor start to the season.
Amorim has struggled to turn around United’s form in the 2024-25 Premier League season and the Red Devils languish in 13th place in the table.
United are on course for their worst Premier League finish in history and the Red Devils have only managed 10 wins in 31 matches in the current campaign.
Amorim’s men face a real challenge of securing a European qualification spot in the Premier League table with only seven league matches remaining this season.
However, the Red Devils are still in the Europa League and UEFA’s second-tier club competition offers United a route back to the Champions League for next season.

Rio Ferdinand stuns fellow TNT Sports pundits with his argument for Man Utd manager Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford
Manchester United hosted Manchester City at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon and the Red Devils secured a Premier League point from their lacklustre 0-0 draw.
Ruben Amorim has already switched his attention to United resuming their Europa League campaign on Thursday evening in the quarter-finals of the tournament.
The Red Devils will face Ligue 1 outfit Lyon at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais in the first-leg Europa League clash, with kick-off slated for 8pm UK time.
United will then host French side Lyon at Old Trafford for the return leg on 17th April, with the Red Devils pushing for a place in the Europa League semi-finals.
When asked who needs the Europa League title more out of Amorim and Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou, Rio Ferdinand picked out the United manager immediately.
“No doubt, Amorim,” he said on TNT Sports.
“He’s at a bigger club. The spotlight – no disrespect to Spurs – but the spotlight there is humungous.
“So, I’d say Man United definitely need to win it more than anybody else.
“Listen, everyone wants to win it – don’t get me wrong – but I think the impact it will have for someone like Amorim will be massively different.”
Ruben Amorim already echoed Rio Ferdinand’s Europa League comments after Man Utd vs Manchester City at Old Trafford
Following United’s performance vs Manchester City, Amorim highlighted the importance of the Europa League to the Red Devils for this season and next season.
“It’s really important,” he said, as per Manchester United’s official website.
“Again, it’s not the most important thing for Manchester United because we have a lot of things to do, but you can see it, in this season, the Europa League is really important.
“We can reach the Champions League next season, we can win something, so we are going to do everything to try to go to the next stage.”
Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham side are on the opposite side of the Europa League bracket to United and Spurs will face Eintracht Frankfurt in the quarter-finals.
