Rio Ferdinand says Park Ji-Sung was one of United's best ever value deals

Old pals Rio Ferdinand and Park Ji Sung were reunited this week for a promotional event in Vietnam.

Ferdinand and Park were both part of United’s 2008 Champions League winning squad and won multiple Premier League titles together.

Sending a message on Instagram sharing their catch-up, Ferdinand says he believes the £4 million United paid PSV Eindhoven for Park is among the club’s best ever value deals.

Pointing at Park’s trophy collection, it’s hard to argue against Ferdinand’s assessment.

It was back in July 2005 when Park made the move, and he last seven seasons, playing more than 200 United games.

United haven’t made many low priced signings in recent seasons, taking punts on low cost talent. Instead it’s been a case of signing high cost players, with disappointing results.

The recent recruitment of Dan James from Swansea is a bit of a throwback to this. Let’s hope his career brings as much success to Old Trafford as Park did.
