Manchester United will still be celebrating the win over Sunderland which extended Ruben Amorim’s time in charge, but around the corner remains a big test.
You can only beat what’s in front of you is often a term used to defend getting excited about winning a game which should have been won regardless.
Manchester United will be feeling this way following last weekend’s 2-0 win over Sunderland which has breathed new life into the club.
United faced the toughest start to the Premier League season this year, taking on Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea in the first five games.

However, despite this start, Ruben Amorim’s side have picked up 10 points from seven games which is far from disastrous, if he is able to go on a run now.
Next up is Liverpool and Rio Ferdinand is convinced United have two players who will cause issues.

Rio Ferdinand predicts Liverpool will struggle to defend against Mason Mount and Matheus Cunha
Impressively, in terms of the expected Premier League table by Opta Analyst, United sit fourth in terms of points and top on expected goals.
United have deserved more than they’ve gotten after seven games this season, while Liverpool are the opposite, deserving less. So when the two meet in less than a fortnight, it will be a big indicator of where both sides are.
Now, Ferdinand has discussed the game, admitting that he sees one weakness in Liverpool’s defence, with two players capable of exposing it.
“I think the right-hand side of their defence, they’re like the right-back area, you’ve got [Dominik] Szoboszlai filling in there at times, he’s not a natural right-back, you’ve got [Ibrahima] Konate, who looks a little bit in and out of form at the moment.
“I think that would be an area that I’d be looking at, and I’d say, listen, Mason Mount or [Matheus] Cunha, I’ll be happy with them going in there.”
Mount was excellent against Sunderland and at the moment looks like a real dangerman under Amorim, while Cunha tested the goalkeeper after his introduction.
But both cannot start vs Liverpool.
Who should Ruben Amorim start in left 10 role vs Liverpool?
While Ferdinand has tipped Mount and Cunha to pose Liverpool issues, he will only be picking one to start at Anfield in the big rivalry.
Amorim chose Mount over Cunha vs Sunderland and he was vindicated in doing so as the Englishman scored a brilliant goal to open the scoring just eight minutes into the game.
This goal alone probably gives Amorim the justification to start Mount ahead of Cunha at Anfield, with the onus on the Brazilian to step up and reverse the decision through his performances.
Cunha is yet to contribute to a goal for United, despite coming close on numerous occasions.
Hopefully, he finds a goal or an assist in the next run of games, but against Liverpool it should be Mount who starts.
