Rio Ferdinand wasted no time in delivering his instant reaction to Manchester United’s sensational 2-1 comeback win against Manchester City on Sunday evening.
The Red Devils had been winless in their last two Premier League matches ahead of their visit to the Etihad for the Manchester derby.
Manchester United suffered back-to-back Premier League defeats against Arsenal and Nottingham Forest under Red Devils manager Ruben Amorim this month.
However, Ruben Amorim’s men returned to action on Thursday and United sealed a 2-1 comeback win against Viktoria Plzen away from home in the Europa League.
Josko Gvardiol broke the deadlock for Manchester City in the first half of the Manchester derby and United faced an uphill task at the Etihad.
However, the Red Devils rallied back late in the second half and Amorim’s men stunned the defending Premier League champions on the weekend.
Bruno Fernandes successfully converted from the spot-kick before Amad Diallo netted United’s winner with a superb finish only two minutes later.

Ferdinand reacts to Man Utd win
Manchester United are 13th in the Premier League table after 16 matches played and the Red Devils are six points behind the top four.
Manchester City are fifth and have only managed one league win in their last five matches, with Pep Guardiola’s men suffering three defeats and picking up a draw.
Rio Ferdinand took to social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, and initially reacted to United’s stunning turnaround against City in the 2-1 win.
“WOW,” he wrote to his 11.6m followers.
Ferdinand also praised Amad Diallo for his show-stealing performance before the United legend turned his attention to the Red Devils.
The 46-year-old former United and England defender was left asking if the Red Devils are finally showing a “style of play” under Ruben Amorim.
“Are we seeing a style of play coming to the thaw,” Ferdinand posted on X.
Amorim’s reaction to Man Utd win
Amorim has stuck with his tactics and formation at United since his arrival from Sporting CP during the November international break.
The 39-year-old Portuguese has been keen to play with a three-man backline and hasn’t been afraid to experiment with roles, including playing Amad as a wing-back.
Speaking after the Manchester derby, Amorim welcomed United’s result at the Etihad and the message that it sent about his side.
“I think, for the fans, it has a deep meaning, especially in this context, in this moment,” he said, as per Manchester United’s official website.
“But we had a difficult moment a week ago against Nottingham [Forest] at home with a storm.
“So, it was a really tough moment after the game. Today, we are more happy but it’s three points. We have to continue.
“Here [in England] you don’t stop playing, next week you will have three games. It will change the way they see the team but today is a good day, let’s enjoy for 10 minutes and then think about the next game.”
