Erik ten Hag is into his second week of training at Manchester United, and appears to have brought the good feeling back to Carrington.

Even Anthony Martial says he is training with a smile, which demonstrates the positive impact Erik ten Hag and his coaching staff have had.

Rio Ferdinand says he has heard positive reports from insiders about Ten Hag’s training sessions, speaking to his FIVE YouTube channel.

Ferdinand says he has been particularly encouraged by hearing how Ten Hag has been laying the groundwork for his tactical blueprint.

Good reports about Ten Hag’s training sessions

Ferdinand says he has heard ‘very positive’ feedback about Ten Hag’s training sessions at Carrington.

He explained: “The noises I’m hearing coming out of the training ground, is everything you want to hear. They are very positive, the training sessions have been very enjoyable, high-intensity, the workload is massive.

“He’s [Ten Hag] demanding a certain type of energy and intensity from players so that fitness levels have to be driven up, and he’s doing that, the players are responding brilliantly.

“I saw Marcus Rashford’s comments, I’ve listened to other people behind the scenes, everything we are seeing right now is positive, positive, positive, they are all the right notes, you are hearing about work ethic, intensity, fitness levels being raised, repetition of certain moves and tactical stuff which will hopefully play out in the season to create that identity we have been missing and crying out for.”

Ferdinand lamented United’s lack of identity on the pitch under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, while under Ralf Rangnick, United never got to grips with it at all.

Ten Hag is coming in at an ideal time, able to have a first ‘proper pre-season’ at United since 2019, with the squad set to jet off on pre-season tour on Friday.

Separately, Ferdinand expressed his concerns with United’s transfer business, that not enough was being done, and said Cristiano Ronaldo won’t be the only player who is anxious about United’s slow start in the market.

As yet, Tyrell Malacia is the only confirmed addition, with The Athletic reporting Christian Eriksen is set to follow.
