Rio Ferdinand has admitted that Red Devils legend Wayne Rooney was fully stunned by one Manchester United star being the fastest player at Old Trafford.
Wayne Rooney and Rio Ferdinand played alongside one another for England and Manchester United and the pair enjoyed incredible success at Old Trafford.
Ferdinand lifted six Premier League titles, a Champions League trophy and two League Cups under former manager Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford.
The 46-year-old United legend was a linchpin defender for Sir Alex Ferguson and forged a formidable partnership with fellow club legend Nemanja Vidic.
Rooney had a sensational impact at United and went on to become the Red Devils’ all-time leading scorer after eclipsing Sir Bobby Charlton in the goalscoring chart.
The 39-year-old former United and England striker lifted five Premier League titles, a Champions League trophy, a Europa League, an FA Cup and three League Cups.

Ferdinand reveals Man Utd legend’s stance
Speaking on Rio Ferdinand Presents, Owen Hargreaves opened up about his playing career and insisted that people overlooked how “quick” he was on the pitch.
Former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson brought Owen Hargreaves to Old Trafford in 2007 after signing him from German outfit Bayern Munich.
Hargreaves lifted a Premier League title and a Champions League trophy with United, but the former Bayern Munich star’s spell was plagued by injuries.
The 43-year-old former Bayern and United midfielder only managed 39 appearances for the Red Devils in four seasons before his Old Trafford departure in 2011.
“People didn’t know I was that quick, so I could always surprise them,” Hargreaves said.
Ferdinand added that Hargreaves made a lasting impression in training and revealed that Wayne Rooney questioned how quick the former Bayern star was on the pitch.
“He came into the training ground when he signed, and we done [sic] testing, and he blew everyone out of the water,” he said.
“He blew everyone away; we used to do like 10 yards, 20 yards, and he won every race.
“Wayne Rooney used to go to the guy, ‘Who’s playing with the machine? Owen can’t be the fastest.’”
Hargreaves raced former Man Utd star
Owen Hargreaves recalled that he put his pace to the test in a race against Anderson and even told the former United midfielder to put his car on as a bet.
“I had just started with my knee. I wasn’t healthy,” he continued.
“Five, 10, 15, 20, 25 yards. Easy money; everyone would try and put bets to race me out on the pitches because they weren’t accepting it.
“I remember Ando [Anderson], I said, ‘I’ll bet your car.’ That Audi, the white one, a nice car. I said, ‘Ando, you ain’t gonna beat me, man, just leave it.’”
Ferdinand added: “He didn’t bet it. He knew – he saw a couple of spirits, and he said, ‘No, not for me.’”
