It is understood that Manchester United are in talks over an improved long-term contract for Facundo Pellistri.
The Uruguayan winger has thus far struggled for game time under Erik ten Hag, only playing 280 minutes of club football, but when he has appeared he’s shown glimpses of a fantastic player.
He’s agile, very quick and plays very unselfishly – traits which are all vital to become a talented winger. Traits that have been recognized already for his national side, where he features regularly. Most recently he got two assists in a 4-1 victory over Nicaragua.
His dazzling potential has led to speculation that a new long-term contract is in the works.

Pellistri to be rewarded with a long-term contract
According to the MEN – Manchester United are in talks over an improved long-term contract for Facundo Pellistri.
Ten Hag is a ‘big fan’, though that does not mean he will get a chance in the first-team squad next season.
United received loan offers from Serie A and La Liga for him during the January window but turned them down in order to oversee his development themselves.
However, this time round it seems like the right option to extend his contract and then let the Uruguayan go out on loan in order to obtain some much-needed game time.
Pellistri himself would also be a fan of this option. He needs game time in order to progress, simple as. This is definitely the most sensible decision for both parties.
Pellistri looks back fondly on his ‘breakthrough’ season
In an interview with Manchester United’s official media team, Pellistri spoke on how he looks back fondly on his first real ‘breakthrough’ season.
“Well, it was a good season. And, luckily, we could classify for the Champions League. That was the main focus we had in pre-season,” he began.
“Also, we could win the Carabao Cup. Of course, it was a long season, full of matches and I gained a lot of experience here. So I’m happy to be here in this club and to have my full first season being a Manchester United player.”
Pellistri looks like a real talent and we can’t wait to see what he does for the club in the future.
