Marcus Rashford scores ‘remarkable’ free-kick to win La Liga

Rashford increased his goal tally to 14 this season by scoring a free-kick just nine minutes into the El Clasico match.

Just days ago, Declan Rice praised Rashford’s free-kick taking ability, and he put it into action against Madrid.

Speaking on BeIn Sports, Arsene Wenger described it as a “remarkable” free-kick: “What is remarkable for Rashford here, he has a very short run to the ball.”

As pointed out by OptaJoe, Rashford’s free-kick made him the first Barcelona player to score a free-kick against Real Madrid since Lionel Messi in 2012.

Rashford failed to achieve his Premier League dream with United, but he has now lifted La Liga as his the first league title of his career.

Marcus Rashford’s chances of joining Barcelona increase

Rashford has made it clear he wants to stay at Barcelona, but the Spanish side do not seem keen to pay his £26m buy clause.

Instead, Barcelona want a second loan for Rashford – something United are not open to as they would prefer to cash in.

However, a £26 million deal to sign Rashford permanently looks like better and better value each week, and his goal against Madrid will only add to that value.

While Rashford has been laying the groundwork for a return to United, it seems like the best option for all parties will be for him to join Barcelona permanently this summer. For the right price, of course.
