Manni Norkett has agreed to sign for Nottingham Forest after being released by Manchester United.

Manchester United announced earlier this month that Manni Norkett was among seven players who will be released.

Norkett was the surprise name on the list, he was the club’s top scorer at under-18s level last season and had been making good progress.

He has wasted no time at all securing a new club, with Nottingham Forest confirming his signature.

Manni Norkett signs for Nottingham Forest

Manni Norkett had been on trial at Leicester City late in the season, a move which hinted at a likely departure before it was announced.

What remains unclear, is if Norkett pushed for a move, or Manchester United simply decided to let him go.

In any case, Norkett’s next move is now set, with Nottingham Forest moving to snap him up.

Norkett will go into Nottingham Forest’s under-21 squad, rather than their first team, and continue his development.

The 18-year-old was prolific for United at youth level, but had only made a handful of appearances at under-21 level with no goals, so he needs to prove he can step up.

At Nottingham Forest he won’t time much time to settle, having been born in Nottinghamshire.

We wish him all the best for the future.
