Manchester United loanee thrives in ‘electric’ atmosphere as Champions League club left humiliated

Manchester United will be tracking loaned out players and one talent enjoyed a stunning win over Champions League opposition.

The route to starring at Manchester United is a tricky one.

Some players go from the United academy into first-team reckoning with Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo prime examples.

Other players often need loan moves to aid their development with Amad Diallo a prime example.

Even Jonny Evans boosted his progress in his early days at United by heading out to Royal Antwerp and Sunderland.

Loans can be the making of a player and United are hoping to see a handful of talents shine this season.

Radek Vitek celebrates stunning win

Goalkeeper Radek Vitek is one United talent spending his season away from Old Trafford.

The Czech stopper joined United from Signa Olomouc in 2020 but has yet to make his first-team debut for the club.

After shining on loan at Accrington Stanley in the second half of last season, Vitek joined Austrian side Blau-Weiss Linz in August.

BW Linz were blown away after signing Vitek, suggesting that signing a United player was ‘unthinkable’ for them.

Vitek started the season well for BW Linz with United no doubt impressed.

A knee injury in September threatened to throw a spanner in the works for Vitek but he has gone straight back into the starting lineup.

Vitek started against Red Bull Salzburg on Sunday afternoon and played his part in a stunning victory.

BW Linz secured a 2-0 win over Red Bull Salzburg, landing an unexpected victory over the Champions League side.

Vitek has taken to social media to celebrate, praising the ‘electric atmosphere’ from the ‘amazing’ BW Linz fans as they recorded an impressive win.

Vitek’s long-term United future unclear

United may still have plans for Vitek in the future but there may be some parallels with Matej Kovar.

Both goalkeepers hail from the Czech Republic and Vitek’s time with Accrington mirrors Kovar’s spells with Swindon Town and Burton Albion.

Kovar then tested himself in Europe with Sparta Prague, just as Vitek is with BW Linz this season.

Despite impressing, Kovar was sold to Bayer Leverkusen in 2023 with United deciding to cash in on the stopper.

Vitek will have dreams of returning to United and challenging Andre Onana for a starting role down the line.

Yet having seen Kovar leave United on a permanent basis, Vitek may well go the same way.
