Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho caused major problems for two Chelsea defenders.

Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino threw a curveball selection before kick-off when he selected Marc Cucurella at right-back.

Cucurella did not have an easy time against Alejandro Garnacho, especially in the first 20 minutes, before improving, however, he did not make it back out for the second half.

Reece James came on at half-time, and the England international had an even worse 45 minutes.

Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho provided the matchwinning assist and ran riot in the second half, even attempting to replicate his spectacular overhead kick.

Garnacho, 19, did not stop running all game, delivering just the type of performance Erik ten Hag would have wanted to see.

Speaking after the game to MUTV, former star Wes Brown remarked on Garnacho’s performance and what he saw.

He said: “When he’s on form like this he’s very hard to stop. He didn’t stop running, and when he got the ball down their throats they couldn’t handle him at times.

“Reece James is a fantastic defender, he turned him a few times, pretty easy as well.”

Alejandro Garnacho was preferred to Marcus Rashford on the left wing once again. This time there was no place for Rashford on the right either.

Garnacho is young, with lots of potential to improve, and he has a spark. Manchester United needed that.

This was his first assist of the season, with Scott McTominay powering in a header from his cross, his second goal of the game. It felt good to see Manchester United prove a few people wrong.
