Manchester United proved the naysayers wrong with a confident performance to beat Chelsea 2-1.
Back to that winning feeling at Old Trafford. Manchester United got three points on the board with a win over Chelsea which could and should have been so much more.
Last season United won 4-1 at home to Chelsea, and that’s how the scoreline really should have been last night.
It really showed that Erik ten Hag does have his players behind him, knocking a few pre-match predictions for six.

Paul Merson called Chelsea win
After the team line-ups were announced, Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson gave a very confident prediction.
He wrote on X: “Big game tonight for Chelsea, no better time to be playing Man Utd. Can’t see Chelsea losing this one.”
Manchester United won the game 2-1, with Scott McTominay scoring a brace.
Bad time to play Manchester United
Clearly this was not a good time to be playing against Manchester United. The team took so much criticism after the Newcastle game, it was disproportionate.
Erik ten Hag’s side took that to heart, and the home crowd was fully behind them. The team selection changed around too, with every player selected giving their all. Tha wasn’t the case days earlier.
If United continue to play like this, which is the challenge, then we might be able to turn this season around.
The challenge is to transform this home form into away form against the top teams. That fixture at Anfield looms large.
