Manchester United star Marcus Rashford took his recent tally to 16 goals in the last 17 games at the weekend with a brace against Leicester.
He has 24 goals for the season in total already, a personal best, with three months of the season remaining.
His form has propelled United forward in four competitions, where no other Red Devils player has yet reached double figures.
The England international’s performances has been truly remarkable, and now he is being compared to some of the very best, including a former teammate.

Rashford praised
Former footballer Tony Cascarino told The Times he is amazed by Rashford’s turnaround in form. Last season he scored only five goals.
Cascarino said: “At his present run is something else. He is scoring with a consistency similar to Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo at their peak.”
This run of 16 in 17 games certainly would be one any superstar would be proud of. Many expected Rashford’s form to drop off weeks ago.
The challenge now is for him to sustain it, for the rest of the season and beyond. That was really what set Ronaldo and Messi apart, the ability to replicate this form for years on end, not just a few weeks.
Cascarino noted of Rashford: “Perhaps he had to hit rock bottom to bounce back.”
Rashford’s contract expires in June 2024 and a renewal is expected to be a top priority for Manchester United. In hindsight it would have been better to do a deal last summer, but at the time he did not look deserving, and without this incentive to secure his future, he might not be the player we see right now.
On his current situation, the pundit added: “I would be stunned if United do not give him whatever deal he asks for. He has all the leverage when it comes to any negotiations and if they do not offer him what he wants, top clubs in Europe will come calling.”
