Predicted Manchester United line-up v Galatasaray

Manchester United head into ‘Hell’ to face Galatasaray, aiming for a desperately needed away win.

Being bottom of the Champions League group after four games was not in the script for Manchester United. But that’s what happens when you lose three of the opening four games.

Thankfully, there is still a chance to qualify, but a win is needed tonight against a Galatasaray side which won 3-2 at Old Trafford. It won’t be easy.

United have lost the first two away games in the group by 4-3 scorelines, at Bayern and Copenhagen. A first Champions League away win since November 2021 is required, when Michael Carrick was in charge.

How Manchester United could line-up v Galatasaray

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is not expected to make major changes to the team which won so convincingly at Everton.

But there is one change which will be enforced, with Marcus Rashford suspended after his controversial red card in Copenhagen.

In goal it will be Andre Onana once again, and we anticipate one change to the back four in front of him.

Luke Shaw, Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof could all start, and we expect Aaron Wan-Bissaka to come back in at right-back instead of Dalot.

Wan-Bissaka would be tasked with shutting down his former Crystal Palace teammate Wilfried Zaha.

Erik ten Hag says he has no fears about starting Kobbie Mainoo at Galatasaray and we expect him to stick to this.

The change could come elsewhere with Scott McTominay dropping out for Sofyan Amrabat, with Ten Hag having one eye perhaps on using the Scot as a starter away at Newcastle this weekend. This could be a real statement game for Amrabat to make his mark.

The only guaranteed starter in attack is Alejandro Garnacho on the left. In the centre, Anthony Martial will probably retain his place, with Rasmus Hojlund on the bench. But it is a big call to leave out the Champions League top scorer, if he is fully fit.

On the right it is a more contentious decision, between Facundo Pellistri and Antony.

Pellistri should have the edge on current form, however, you have to look at the overall make-up of this side, already featuring teenagers Garnacho and Mainoo, and suspect Ten Hag would favour Antony, a player he has built up trust with, over the young Uruguayan.
