Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot have both been in action for Portugal this weekend as Portugal took on Chile at the Estadio Nacional.

With the World Cup less than a week from kicking off, Portugal have been in action in a warm-up clash with Chile and Manchester United had a vested interest.

Bruno Fernandes started and played the entirety of the game, scoring a stunning goal from outside the box in the second-half. While Diogo Dalot came off the bench for the second 45.

Their performances have both been reviewed by the Portuguese press, but it was Fernandes who took basically all the plaudits. This unsurprising, given Fernandes is arguably the best player in the world right now, and he continued his form for Portugal.

A Bola rated Fernandes a 7/10 for his goal scoring performance.

While the same report rated Dalot as a 6/10, praising him for his attacking instinct.

“Came on at half-time as a left-back and was always facing the attack.”

Goal Point gave Fernandes a 7.9/10 match rating for his efforts, before praising him as the MVP.

GE hailed Fernandes for his goal, “Bruno Fernandes scored a beautiful goal”.

Bola Na Rede also hailed Fernandes, “It wasn’t the Manchester United player’s most brilliant game, but he deserves recognition for his goal and versatility. In the first half, he was closer to the striker, practically kissing the edge of the box. In the second half, he dropped back to play as a double pivot and managed to bring balance to the team.”

Bruno Fernandes enters Portugal’s top five record goalscorers

In this Portugal side, the main man is now Bruno Fernandes and he proved it again against Chile.

With his goal, he also has now entered the history books for Portugal.

The goal was his 29th in 88 caps for his nation. This is enough to now place joint fifth all-time with Nuno Gomes.

Fernandes will now have Luis Figo firmly in his sights on 32 goals, and in this form he might break that this summer.

Beyond that is Eusebio, Pauleta and then Cristiano Ronaldo, which just shows how much of a legend Fernandes is becoming for his country.
