Paul Scholes reacts after hearing Man Utd are going to film new Amazon documentary, one caution

Manchester United dropped a different kind of bomb at the start of the transfer window by confirming their presence in Amazon’s “All or Nothing” documentary.

This has been in the works at Man Utd for a while, with Amazon approaching the club last year, when Ruben Amorim said no.

The deal has been closed this summer, and the documentary will be released next summer, covering the 2026/27 season.

Paul Scholes has delivered his verdict on the decision, saying there’s one thing to be cautious about, with another advantage as well.

Man Utd have signed up to show a behind-the-scenes documentary on Amazon! How do you feel about this?

What will you be hoping IS or ISN'T shown on the show?

Ineos have been eager to maximise every revenue stream at Old Trafford, so a deal of this kind was always likely.

A good thing is that they have a calm and composed man in charge this time, instead of an explosive presence like Ruben Amorim.

Still, it’s not really ideal for Michael Carrick and his players to have cameras following them everywhere during their first full season together.

Scholes is worried about how intrusive it will be for everyone involved, but conceded that a peek behind the scenes will be amazing for the fans.

He said [via The Good, The Bad, and The Football podcast]: “Yeah, probably, but do you know what, for a fan, they are brilliant to watch. I watched the Arsenal one.

“Not for the players. The players and the manager probably won’t like it, but for fans watching. City did it as well; it’s amazing, watching people like Arteta, what he’s like, you learn a lot of stuff.”

Man Utd will exercise a lot of creative control

A peek behind the curtains at Man Utd is a historic announcement, also reflected by the fact that the club have agreed a record deal never seen before.

The payment to Utd exceeds what the likes of City, Arsenal, or Spurs got paid, despite having better competitive standing compared to the club in the case of City and Arsenal.

Therefore, it’s fair to assume that United would have negotiated a lot of creative control over the project to ensure they don’t lose control of the narrative.

Scholes’ concerns are well-placed, since United are a fiercely scrutinised club on the calmest of days, so inviting even more cameras is a distraction they can do without.

At the same time, it feels safe to assume that United won’t let anything slip past and go live that they don’t want out there.

The balance will be struck, with the fans getting a glimpse behind the scenes, and the club getting paid.
