Paul Scholes believes at least two dream signings for Manchester United are playing in the Premier League right now, with Ineos keen on identifying transfer targets with experience in the top division.
There was a shift in transfer strategy at Manchester United last summer.
Although Ineos remained at the forefront of the youth market, with several additions made to the teams at the academy level, the arrivals of Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha proved that Ruben Amorim wants Premier League-proven talent to take the team to the next level.
Therefore, it doesn’t come as a surprise that most of United’s targets heading into 2026 are playing in the Premier League. They include Elliot Anderson, Adam Wharton, Tyler Adams and more.

United have also been linked with wingers as well as central midfielders, but it remains to be seen if any signings will be made in January.

Former United midfielder Paul Scholes has reflected on what he thinks United need in the transfer window.
On the latest episode of The Good, The Bad & The Football, Scholes reflected on two dream signings for United.
“He’ll be good in January,” Scholes said when asked about United-linked Antoine Semenyo.
“Something I think they need is a Declan Rice type. And a realistic one I’d say Semenyo, although where does he play for Man United?
“Is he a wing-back? He’s more of an attacking player. I just don’t see where he fits into that Mbeumo, Cunha, Sesko, Diallo.
“A lot of people talked about him going to City. I just don’t see him as a City player, I just don’t.”

Semenyo has been one of the most dangerous attacking players in the league this season, with eight goals and three assists to his name.
The winger has a £65 million release clause that becomes active in January, but United are competing with City for his signature.
Sadly, not all ‘dream signings’ are realistic because Scholes also mentioned Arsenal’s Declan Rice. The England international certainly won’t be moving to Old Trafford anytime soon.

Scholes is not the only former United player to admire Rice.
Ex-United captain Wayne Rooney has hailed the Arsenal midfielder and suggested that he could wear the armband for England in the future.
Rooney was England captain between 2014 and 2017, but he now thinks Rice has what it takes to lead the Three Lions in the future.
“For me, he’s the one who’s probably waiting for Harry to hang up his boots at some point,” Rooney said in the latest episode of The Wayne Rooney Show.
“He was all over the pitch [against Everton]. His decision-making – when to pass it, where to pass it, what foot to pass it to, his detail on his pass – it was a pleasure to watch. He was absolutely incredible.
“He was splitting centre-backs, taking the ball off [Arsenal’s] centre-backs, acting as a third centre-back, then next minute he’s in the box, trying to score a goal. Sometimes, some of the stuff he does is a bit underrated.
“He’s the right one to take over [Kane] for me, because [of] his drive, his personality. Everyone seems to love him, who knows him, who’s close to him. He’s irreplaceable for England.”
