Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has praised three players after Erik ten Hag’s men beat Aston Villa 2-1 in their Premier League clash at Villa Park on Sunday.
The Red Devils have won their last three Premier League matches now and Manchester United are undefeated in six fixtures across all competitions.
United secured an important three Premier League points on their trip to Villa Park, with Erik ten Hag’s side fighting for a place in the top four this season.
Rasmus Hojlund has now scored in five consecutive matches across all competitions, with the United striker finding the back of the net against Unai Emery’s men.
Scott McTominay ensured United walked away with a win over Aston Villa after the Scotland star came off the bench and buried a bullet header past Emi Martinez.
United are now five points behind fifth-place Villa and six points adrift from fourth-place Tottenham in the race for Champions League football next season.

Scholes praises Man Utd trio
Speaking after the win at Villa Park, Paul Scholes praised the influence of former Real Madrid star Casemiro on the pitch for Manchester United.
The 49-year-old former United midfielder was also impressed with the impact of Harry Maguire, who set up Rasmus Hojlund for the Red Devils’ opener.
Scholes highlighted the impact that Scott McTominay has had for United this season, with the Scotland international being a “real threat” after he came off the bench.
The United legend added that McTominay, who has scored seven times in 21 league appearances, has proven that he is a “big difference” to Erik ten Hag’s side.
“Casemiro coming in is a big plus, the form of Maguire, in both boxes, he was very good today, and McTominay has been a real threat when he’s come on,” Scholes told Premier League Productions.
“He’s [McTominay] making a big difference to the team.”
Ten Hag on McTominay’s Man Utd impact
Speaking after the Villa match, Ten Hag opened up about his decision to bring on McTominay and the difference that the United midfielder can make on the pitch.
“[It meant] Bruno [Fernandes] could become more of a midfielder [than] in the offensive,” he told Sky Sports (via Manchester United’s official website).
“I understand the players see the spaces and go for goal in such moments because they are offensive, they want to score goals.
“But I think it was better in certain situations to keep the ball and let the opponent run, drag them out and then it will open up.
“And so that was more the idea to bring an extra midfielder there. But with Scott, you have a player who can score a goal.”
