Paul Scholes has named two Manchester United players who could be vital for Erik ten Hag’s prospects of turning things around at Old Trafford.
It’s no secret that Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has had to deal with a lot of injury issues in his second season at the club after such a promising debut campaign.
The Red Devils have had up to 10 injuries at one time and have also had to deal with countless absentees, some being recurrences of previous issues, with Lisandro Martinez being absent for around three months now.
The injury issues have eased somewhat since then, with Luke Shaw, Kobbie Mainoo and Aaron Wan-Bissaka all returning in recent weeks.

Scholes on key men returning
Speaking to TNT Sports ahead of United’s crucial Champions League clash against Bayern Munich at Old Trafford, Paul Scholes has named two key men for the Red Devils, who could resurrect their faltering season.
“I can’t remember one good result this season. The wins were against teams you’d expect to beat. It’s not those games that define Man United players, it’s big games,” Scholes bemoaned.
“I think when Christian Eriksen and Casemiro return [from injury], that’ll make them a lot more relaxed. It’ll add a lot more experience and quality.
“I’m hoping when those two come back, things will improve for ten Hag, but in terms of challenging for big trophies, I don’t think this squad is good enough.”
Casemiro and Eriksen
The midfield pair were starters for the Red Devils last season before the Danish midfielder suffered a serious injury against Reading in the FA Cup.
Casemiro, however, has been out of the team for a month after a poor start to his second season in Manchester and injury problems of his own.
The hope will be that the Brazilian midfielder can rediscover the form he showed at Old Trafford during his debut campaign, following his £60 million move from Real Madrid.
Eriksen has struggled in the games he has played for the Red Devils this season with his appearance at the Emirates Stadium, one that he would like to forget following his lack of concentration for Arsenal’s equaliser scored by Martin Odegaard barely a minute after United had opened the scoring.
The midfielders’ return couldn’t come at a better time for the Red Devils.
