Manchester United announced Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure from the club by mutual consent.
Former teammate Rio Ferdinand remarked that the move was best for both parties, a diplomatic reaction.
Paul Scholes was far more cutting about his former Manchester United colleague, in a comment made via his Instagram story reel.
Scholes was referring to Ronaldo’s interview with Piers Morgan, which made the end of his Manchester United future inevitable.
It had appeared his goal was to force a move away from the club – and now he has succeeded. But as Scholes less than politely remarks – he isn’t very bothered.
It is hard to be too cut up about Ronaldo’s goal contribution this season being removed from the side. He scored just one Premier League goal.
Ronaldo admitted in the interview he has been lacking motivation, something which has been very apparent in his performances.
The forward had also stated in his interview he did not see his former teammates as friends, just ex-colleagues, taking digs at Gary Neville and Wayne Rooney.
In the case of Paul Scholes, it appears the feeling is very mutual, and he is not afraid to make that clear.
