Record Manchester United signing Paul Pogba met up with four of his former teammates at the Fifa Club World Cup.

Nine years on from the move, Paul Pogba’s £89m switch is still United’s most expensive transfer deal of all time.

However, whether or not the French midfielder was a success in his second stint at Old Trafford is very much up for debate.

Pogba appeared to take a swipe at United last week in a response to club captain Bruno Fernandes, and his relationship with the Red Devils has not always been rosy.

Pogba suffered from depression under Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford, and since leaving in 2022 and receiving a doping suspension at Juventus, he is yet to return to football.

During his ban, Pogba has been training in the United States and has even been linked with a potential move to DC United.

Now, the US is hosting the inaugural Fifa Club World Cup under its new format and Pogba has paid a visit to reunite with some of his former teammates.

Pogba met up with Marcos Rojo, Sergio Romero, Edinson Cavani and Ander Herrera before the Boca Juniors quartet faced Benfica in their opening match of the Club World Cup.

Via Instagram, Pogba captioned his story “Que placer ver a mis amigos”, translating to “What a pleasure to see my friends”.

After meeting up with his former teammates, Pogba was then treated to a dramatic clash which saw Boca draw 2-2 with Benfica at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida.

Boca raced into an early two-goal lead before former United player Angel Di Maria clawed one back from Benfica from the penalty spot.

Herrera, who had left the pitch with an injury in the first half, was then involved in a touchline brawl which saw the Spanish midfielder receive a red card.

As reported by the Daily Mail, the clash “descended into chaos” with a further two red cards being handed out to Jorge Figal and Andrea Belotti in the second half.

Rojo remained on the bench for Boca while both Romero and Cavani were not in the squad.
