Paul Pogba leaves door open to move from Manchester United to PSG

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has conducted an interview with French media during the international break.

That is something he has done before and it is also quite clear to see that he plays with more freedom and happiness for his country.

That tends to improve his level of performance and he told La Figaro that he feels he has a more defined role under Didier Deschamps than at Old Trafford.

He told the same outlet that he is open to joining Paris Saint-Germain as a free agent when the season and his United contract end.

When asked about the prospect of moving to PSG, Pogba said: “Why not? It is always good to play with teammates in the French national team and club.”

In truth, Pogba does not have as many viable options for the summer, even as a free agent, and a large part of that is down to his performance levels with United.

PSG, as well as Juventus and Real Madrid will be talked about, while Barcelona are always interested in high-profile players who become free agents these days.

But can Juve really afford him? One of the reasons they pursued the Super League was their financial situation, and the same goes for Barca.

Real Madrid seem to be on a better financial footing but Kylian Mbappe is their main summer target and Erling Haaland would be a better signing than Pogba.

PSG certainly have the cash and may want to make a splash in the market if they lose Mbappe, as well as offering Pogba a chance to play in his native France.

But like United, they will be looking for a new manager in the summer and are still looking for a way to blend their expensive squad of egos into a cohesive unit.

This is a big decision for Pogba as he looks ahead to signing the last big contract of his career at the age of 29 and it remains to be seen which – if any – of his potential suitors are the most serious.
