Paul Merson predicts Man Utd vs Everton, expects ‘unusual’ things to happen at Old Trafford

Manchester United will hope for a return to winning ways this weekend as Everton are welcomed to Old Trafford.

Erik ten Hag‘s solid start to 2024 seems a distant memory after two consecutive defeats in the Premier League.

Manchester United have really struggled to cope after the injury blow to Rasmus Hojlund prior to the Fulham defeat.

But facing an Everton side who’ve recently had their points deduction reduced, United should have enough to get three points.

But most importantly, Ten Hag needs to try and implement some control into the game to show Ineos that he’s the man to take the club forward.

Now, ahead of the game, Paul Merson has shared his weekly predictions over this round of Premier League fixtures.

Paul Merson predicts Manchester United vs Everton

Writing in his SportsKeeda predictions article, Merson has predicted Everton’s visit to Old Trafford this Saturday lunchtime.

“This is a good time to play Manchester United if you’re Everton, but the Toffees just can’t seem to win a game at the moment! They’ve gone 10 games without a win in the Premier League and they have scored more than one goal only once in those games!

“I’m just going to fancy Manchester United here as I can’t see the goal threat from Everton. The Red Devils keeping a clean sheet and getting a comfortable win is a bit unusual this season, but I can see them getting the job done at Old Trafford.

“Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS can easily pull the plug on Erik ten Hag, but the hard part is to hire a manager who they really want. Ten Hag’s job looks like it’s not completely safe and a lot will depend on how the current campaign draws to a close.”

Finally, Merson gave his score prediction of a 2-0 United win, which would be much needed for Ten Hag.

One man who’d love for the game to end 2-0 is Andre Onana with this scoreline doing wonders for his golden glove hopes.

Currently, with seven, Onana is joint third and could move joint second, just one behind David Raya, with a clean sheet this weekend.

Onana pushing for the golden glove shows exactly how brilliant he has been in the league this season, doing amazingly to bounce back from a concerning opening few months.
