Patrice Evra revealed that Sir Alex Ferguson had to walk back on his stance over one thing at Old Trafford after his Manchester United players delivered for him.
Sir Alex Ferguson brought Patrice Evra to Old Trafford in the 2006 January transfer window from Ligue 1 outfit Monaco in a reported £5.5m deal at the time.
Evra went on to become a key defensive figure for Ferguson and spent the large majority of his Manchester United playing career under the iconic Scotsman.
The 43-year-old Frenchman made a whopping 379 appearances for United and lifted five Premier League titles, a Champions League trophy and three League Cups.
Following Ferguson’s retirement from management in 2013, Evra played under former United manager David Moyes before he left Old Trafford in 2014.
The United legend went on to play for Juventus, Marseille and West Ham before he called it time on his remarkable playing career in 2019.

Sir Alex Ferguson is widely regarded as one of the best managers of all time after his impact in England with Manchester United and in Scotland with Aberdeen.
The 82-year-old Scot engineered all 13 of United’s Premier League title wins and was the first manager in history to lead an English team to a continental treble in 1999.
Speaking on the Tea With Me podcast, Patrice Evra opened up about his time under Ferguson and shared a “crazy story” from his time at Old Trafford.
The former United left-back claimed that Ferguson would allow players to upgrade the Old Trafford dressing room only if they achieved two things for him.
“I’ll give you a crazy story,” Evra told comedian Shane Todd.
“We had to win the Premier League and the Champions League to get a bigger dressing room.
“Our dressing room at Old Trafford was like maybe the size of this room. Sir Alex Ferguson never wanted to change the dressing room.
“We were like, ‘Come on, boss, it is too small.’ But this is the history, George Best, Bobby Charlton, Denis Law, this is why he doesn’t want to change the dressing room.
“But he said if you win the Prem and the Champions League, maybe you are going to have a dressing room.”
Evra reveals Ferguson’s reaction
United went on to win the Premier League title and the Champions League trophy in the 2007-08 season and Ferguson kept true to his word.
Evra hilariously recalled that Ferguson was furious that he would ‘have no money’ left for the new dressing room before the United legend reminded him of one detail.
“He was like, ‘F**k sake, I’m going to have no money.’ I was like, ‘It is not even your money, boss,’” he said.
“I remember the first time we came in and we had big TV screens, a speaker, and I was so happy, like Christmas, just because we got a bigger dressing room.
“But we had to win those trophies to do that.”
