Manchester United fans might want to pay attention to Patrice Evra’s latest prediction.

An eternal optimist, former Manchester United defender Patrice Evra got his prediction for Manchester United’s win over Aston Villa spot on.

Speaking to Amazon Prime at half-time when Manchester United were 2-0 down to Aston Villa, Evra forecast a 3-2 win for the home team, saying he had seen enough signs to be positive.

Manchester United obliged, scoring three goals, two from Alejandro Garnacho and a winner from Rasmus Hojlund.

Evra predicts top four

At the end of Amazon’s broadcast, Evra was asked for his prediction of how the top four spots could shake out at the end of the season.

Not in any particular order, Evra named the four teams, with Manchester United among them.

He said: “I think Liverpool, City, Arsenal and the fourth spot, United. I go for United.”

Manchester United are just about in the mix

Manchester United are now in sixth place in the Premier League table, although could slip to seventh by the end of this gameweek.

The team have won just 10 of 19 matches played so far, a very unimpressive record as it includes eight defeats.

Worryingly, the team also has a goal difference of -4. So there are plenty of issues to address.

As it stands, United are five points off fourth place. This is a gap which can be bridged.

If United are to be successful with Evra’s prediction proved right, Aston Villa and Tottenham will have to be overhauled.

Villa in particular are in a strong position, eight points ahead of Manchester United. It could have been a lot more without last night’s comeback.

Top four isn’t the pinnacle of what we should be aiming for, but it feels like the best possible outcome from this season’s league campaign, after the poor start. Let’s hope Patrice is spot on.
