Patrice Evra’s half-time prediction for Manchester United, which looked unlikely at the time, came true during the Red Devils’ win over Aston Villa.

During half-time of Manchester United’s game against Unai Emery’s Aston Villa, the Red Devils were 2-0 down and were greeted with boos from the frustrated fanbase at Old Trafford.

Two set-piece goals for the Midlands side had them in dreamland at Old Trafford and it looked to be the first time in Emery’s managerial career that the Spaniard was to win at the famous stadium.

Former United left-back Patrice Evra chose to be upbeat during the 15-minute interval midway through the game and his rather optimistic prediction came true.

Evra’s prediction

As mentioned, speaking on Amazon Prime Sport, Evra chose to look at the positives of the game as opposed to the negatives as Erik ten Hag’s side had multiple golden chances to half the deficit before the interval.

“If they play the same way, and are more focused on set pieces, I won’t be surprised if they win 3-2,” the Frenchman said at half-time and his rather bold prediction has turned out to come true.

A brilliant double from Alejandro Garnacho, who was superb on the right-hand side for the Red Devils, and an emotional winner from Rasmus Hojlund, his first goal in the Premier League, won the game for United.

It was a truly extraordinary prediction from Evra and he said: ” I was the only crazy man to say if United play with the same determination we will score three goals and win this game.”

United’s character

Despite the amount of losses the Red Devils have suffered this season, eight in the league alone, there has been a question about whether the team are with the former Ajax boss.

The players on the pitch gave their all and that was summed up when Garnacho fell to the floor screaming at the top of his lungs when the goalbound shot from Hojlund hit the back of the net at the Stretford End.

If there are any questions about whether the players still back the 53-year-old, these were emphatically answered by the team, it’s been said before, but the players have to build on this.
