Manchester United legend Patrice Evra has dropped a powerful assessment of what he has seen from Patrick Dorgu in the 2025-26 Premier League season so far.
Patrick Dorgu had struggled earlier in the current campaign under Ruben Amorim before the 41-year-old former Manchester United manager was sacked by the club.
The 21-year-old Danish wing-back had been playing as a left wing-back in Ruben Amorim’s tactical system for Man Utd after his 2025 move from Serie A side Lecce.
However, Amorim’s exit from United and the arrival of Michael Carrick allowed Dorgu a new opportunity to shine at Old Trafford in the second half of the season.

Michael Carrick’s Manchester United tactics led to Luke Shaw being restored to his preferred left-back role and Patrick Dorgu being deployed in an advanced position.
Dorgu played the first two Premier League matches of Carrick’s reign as a left-winger and the Denmark international impressed with his attacking output.
The former Lecce star netted in Man Utd’s 2-0 win over Manchester City at Old Trafford in January before scoring again in the 3-2 away victory over Arsenal.
Speaking to DHL Express, former Red Devils defender Patrice Evra has predicted that Dorgu’s future at United will be as a left winger instead of playing at left-back.
“When you play as a left-back, people often judge your performance by your attacking play,” he said, as per the Metro.
“You have to find the right balance, but with the way modern football is played, I think Patrick Dorgu is more dangerous as a left winger.”

Dorgu’s stunning strike for Man Utd in the 3-2 win over Arsenal at the Emirates in January blew Evra away for his technique and finishing in the final third of the pitch.
“That goal he scored against Arsenal was unbelievable,” Evra added.
Evra said that the United and Denmark ace’s attacking qualities shine through more than his defensive ones and Dorgu should be developed at the club as a winger.
“He is definitely more attacking than defensive,” he continued.
“While the manager will ultimately decide, I see his long-term future as a left winger.”
Dorgu has only featured in two Premier League matches under United legend Carrick before he was sidelined with a hamstring injury.
