One Manchester United star named in BBC Team of the Week

Manchester United demolished Leicester City at the weekend to make light work of a tricky game.

Leicester had been in resurgent form in recent weeks, beating Tottenham 4-1 just a week earlier.

Despite Leicester having a week to prepare for this game, after United’s match away in Spain, Erik ten Hag ensured his side kept their standards as high as ever.

United dispatched Leicester 3-0, a scoreline which could easily have been higher if not for some wasteful finishing.

BBC Team of the Week

One Manchester United star was named in the BBC team of the week. Once again it was Marcus Rashford.

Pundit Garth Crooks said: “Rashford is playing the best football of his career.

“He is scoring goals for fun and taking Manchester United places they have not been for years.”

Rashford has 24 goals in all competitions, the same number Cristiano Ronaldo managed last season. The difference is, Rashford has months left to add to his tally.

He also has eight assists so far, and 16 of his goals have come in his last 17 games.

The real talking point comes with the Manchester United players not named in the BBC team of the week. Bruno Fernandes was overlooked despite creating nine chances in a single game.

On another week, centre-backs Lisandro Martinez and Victor Lindelof would both also make it in, while United’s day was only made so straightforward thanks to a terrific first half performance from goalkeeper David de Gea.

This is the third successive week Marcus Rashford has been named in the BBC team of the week. Considering his impressive and consistent form, this is not at all surprising.
