‘One day’… Manchester United coach drops big hint on his future, ‘eventually’ wants a bigger role

Manchester United coach Benni McCarthy has admitted that he’s not planning on staying at Old Trafford forever.

Benni McCarthy was getting all the plaudits last season but this season the attacking side of Manchester United has been utterly woeful.

Despite this there have been some successes with Rasmus Hojlund and Scott McTominay becoming excellent in front of goal, we presume down to McCarthy.

Now, the coach has given an update on his future at the club which suggests he has his eyes firmly locked elsewhere for the future.

Benni McCarthy admits he sees his future elsewhere

Last season particularly, United’s attacking coach Benni McCarthy was lauded for the impact he had on Marcus Rashford including claims he has been pivotal in ‘reawakening’ the United forward line.

Now the record-scoring South African has hinted over his future, admitting he sees himself as a manager.

“With the knowledge I’ve gained and everything I’ve contributed to the team – I want to take that and then eventually become a manager,” McCarthy told You Magazine.

“Because once you’ve sat in the hot seat at a club and you’ve experienced the adrenaline of decision-making and leading you want to experience that again one day”.

McCarthy’s impact at Manchester United has passed

Last season for some time, McCarthy was truly adored by the fanbase as we watched Rashford walk himself to 30 goals in the league.

But this season has been vastly different and the attack has resembled something more befitting a side battling relegation with Luton being a higher-scoring outfit.

Atop this, Rashford has regressed and looks worse than he ever has, with his exit even being talked about now which wouldn’t have seemed possible 12 months ago.

It’s likely McCarthy follows Eric Ramsay and exits for a managerial position at some point soon, which could be expedited by Erik ten Hag himself being let go.
