Omar Berrada has now answered one of the biggest concerns being directed towards Manchester United ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
After a better-than-expected 2025/26 season, Michael Carrick will lead Manchester United into the 2026/27 campaign and continue his era of managing the club.
United will be back in the Champions League next season after a two-year absence, which will present Carrick with a massively different challenge to the one he has had since January.
Playing twice a week is the factor many rivals use to say United will struggle next season. But Omar Berrada has made it clear that United are well aware of this change.

Omar Berrada acknowledges Manchester United will face a challenge in 2026/27
Berrada has appeared on the Inside Carrington podcast to review the campaign and look ahead to the next campaign.
In doing so, Andy Mitten asked Berrada about the women’s side, with his answer providing a hint at the challenge United’s men’s side faces next season in the fact that there will be four competitions to compete for.
“With the women’s team, we have seen they played in the Champions League for the first time. Did really well, went all the way to the quarter-finals, and unfortunately couldn’t go any further.
“We probably fell short in the WSL. We would have wanted to finish in the top three positions, but we understand that it is difficult to compete on all fronts.”
Competing on all fronts is difficult, and one of the biggest question marks that are being levelled at Michael Carrick in anticipation of next season.
Continuing, Berrada commented on the ambitions for United in the 2026/27 campaign.
“At Manchester United, success is always measured by winning trophies; that’s what we are about. Our aim for next season is to be more competitive in all the competitions.
“We’re going to be playing in the Champions League, which will lead to an increased demand on the squad, but we believe we have the right coach, the right players and the right set-up around the men’s first team to be able to compete in the Champions League, get closer to competing to win the Premier League and also do well in the domestic cups.”
Berrada once again mentioned that there are added games and competitions to take into account next season, which should give fans confidence.

It can be revealed that £243m will already be leaving Old Trafford this summer…
United will be well prepared for the challenge of competing on all fronts
Ahead of next season, United believe the Premier League is winnable right now because of the external forces impacting the other sides.
But for others, there is a real concern that United won’t be able to cope with two games a week under Carrick, having seen five months of one game a week, sometimes every fortnight.
However, bad news for rivals is that Berrada is clearly aware of this challenge, and that should indicate the club are planning as such in the transfer window.
This, combined with the fact that United aren’t exactly strangers to European football, should suggest it won’t come as a shock to the club.
United need to recruit well and add depth in quality, but the worry around next season should dissipate slightly, thanks to Berrada.
