Manchester United CEO Omar Berrada issued a comment about the club’s ongoing projects alongside the latest financial accounts.
The Red Devils published the financial figures for the final three months of 2024 on Wednesday afternoon, revealing some worrying patterns.
Manchester United have now paid out over £1bn in interest payments since the Glazers took charge of the club. The figures also revealed that Erik ten Hag was paid £10.1m in compensation after being sacked.
Despite the negatives, United record a profit of £3.1m for the quarter, and CEO Omar Berrada highlighted some of the work being done behind the scenes.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe personally injected £79m into the club as part of his takeover agreement. Those funds were put toward much-needed infrastructure projects.
Manchester United’s £50m training ground project on track
Last month, United in Focus took a deep dive into United’s £50m ‘Project Avalon’ – the codename for the state-of-the-art redevelopment plans at Carrington.
Cristiano Ronaldo blasted Carrington on his way out of the club in 2022, suggesting that the training facilities had not improved since he left for Real Madrid in 2009.
The £50m renovation is set to improve several departments including improved IT systems, a new players’ gym and preparation space, medical facilities, nutrition provision, and rest and recuperation areas.
Ruben Amorim and his squad have been using many of the women team’s facilities – which were recently renovated in a £20m project in 2023.
United were hopeful that the training ground redevelopment would be finished for the end of the season, and Berrada has now given an update on the project.
His comments attached to the club’s financial report read: “We recognise the challenges in improving our men’s team’s league position and we are all working hard, collectively, to achieve that.
“Our redevelopment of the Carrington training complex remains on track.”

As well as confirming that the training ground renovation is on track, Berrada also suggested that there is yet to be a decision made about the future of Old Trafford.
“We continue to work towards a decision on the future of Old Trafford as part of a wider regeneration programme,” Berrada wrote.
United’s £2bn new stadium plan received government support last month, but the option to renovate and expand Old Trafford is still being considered.

Ratcliffe wants a new 100,000-seater venue, but question marks over location and funding remain.
Back in October, reports suggested work on the stadium could begin in 2025, but it seems club chiefs are still yet to make a final decision on whether to expand Old Trafford or build a new stadium nearby.
