Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been discussing Manchester United, with one of his former players earning special praise.
In the post Sir Alex Ferguson, there have been six permanent managers with none being more harshly treated than Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The United club legend had his team playing some excellent football while regularly reaching finals and finishing in the Champions League positions.

| Season | Points | Position |
| 2020/21 | 74 | 2nd |
| 2019/20 | 66 | 3rd |
| 2018/19 (half-season) | 66 | 6th |
Solskjaer achieved something no other United post-Sir Alex has by scoring back-to-back top-four finishes. The Norweigan also took United to consecutive Europa League finals – both of which were agonisingly close defeats.
Despite the final few weeks of his reign being a struggle, Solskjaer rightfully looks back on his time as United manager favourably. This includes keeping tabs on some of his favourite former players.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wishes Manchester United never sold Scott McTominay
After years out of management, Solskjaer returned to football earlier this season when he accepted an approach from Besiktas. Since then, he has been impressive in Turkey with several big wins along with some top form.
But when Solskjaer spoke to The Athletic’s Andy Mitten, the topic of United was still brought up.
Solskjaer was asked whether he still watches United games, to which the baby-faced assassin responded by name-dropping some players he keeps tabs on.
“When I can. It’s still good to see Bruno Fernandes and Harry (Maguire) doing well”, Solskjaer explained.
Continuing, Solskjaer added that Scott McTominay is one player he also looks out for when he’s playing.
“Scotty is doing well at Napoli”, he added before displaying his feelings over the Scotsman being sold. “I’m upset that we let him go because he was important last season when he kept popping up with goals. His heart and his knowledge of the culture were important.”

| Competition | Games | Goals | Assists |

McTominay was sold to Napoli last summer and under Antonio Conte has developed into a key player who is pivotal in their race for the Scudetto.
Scott McTominay gave Ole Gunnar Solskjaer a memorable moment
It was under Solskjaer that McTominay became a regular starter, becoming one-half of the infamous ‘McFred’.
However, McTominay had some highlight reel moments at United and now one has been picked out by Solskjaer as causing Old Trafford to be the loudest he has heard it.
“As a manager, the only atmosphere comparable was when we beat City (2-0 in 2020) and Scott McTominay got that late goal. The Stretford End was bouncing long after. And Ronaldo’s return v Newcastle, of course. What noise that day.”
When McTominay scored from 30 yards out, the stadium erupted and it has lived long with Solskjaer which makes it no surprise that he still follows the career of McTominay wherever he is.
