After missing out on a move away from Manchester United in the summer, Tyrell Malacia faces a big test to get back into Ruben Amorim’s plans.
Ruben Amorim made it clear to five players at Manchester United that they were not part of his plans. While most of those players secured moves elsewhere, Tyrell Malacia remained at the club after having to train away from his teammates during the summer.

Malacia saw a move to Elche fall through. The same would happen when Eyüpspor attempted to sign him.
Malacia was named in United’s Premier League squad, despite having been asked to train away from the first team in the summer.

Tyrell Malacia not giving up at Man Utd
Amorim confirmed last week that Malacia would be training with the Under 21s.
The Daily Mail understands that Malacia has been training with the U21s for the past two weeks.
That same report suggests that Amorim’s intensity in training has been ‘off the charts’ with his attitude ‘an example for everybody else’.
Malacia is not giving up on getting back into United’s team after requesting to be allowed to play for the U21s. It is understood that he has yet to be given the green light.
He made his last appearance for United at FCSB in the Europa League on January 30.
Diego Leon is a work in progress
While Malacia has been left out of the first-team, Diego Leon has trained under Amorim after joining United from Cerro Porteno.
Leon played his first game for United’s U21s in a 2-1 win at Liverpool on Sunday.
Amorim has already said Leon is a player for the future, but Patrick Dorgu may need cover at some point, which could see Malacia step back into the first team dressing room.
It remains to be seen when Leon will make his debut for the first team.
