Manchester United ended derby day in bitter defeat. They lost out 3-0 to Pep Guardiola’s side.
It was a night of majority doom and gloom at Old Trafford. There was little to shout about in what was yet another derby drubbing from the noisy neighbours.
A double from Erling Haaland and one from Phil Foden was enough to sink Erik ten Hag‘s men, but it could have been more if it wasn’t for a fine Andre Onana performance.
There was however a moment before kick-off that Manchester United fans absolutely loved, which came from a player that wasn’t even in the starting XI – Alejandro Garnacho.

Just before kick-off, Garnacho was filmed from the stands embracing a young fan who had entered the field of play in the warm-ups.
The Argentine proceeded to take off his jumper and give it to the lad.
A great gesture from Garnacho, after what must have been a tough week for him.
Garnacho redeemed himself in the derby
The youngster found himself in hot water following a social media post which depicted racist connotations towards United goalkeeper and teammate Onana.
The Cameroonian shot-stopper defended him after the English FA launched an investigation into a social media post made by the Argentinian.
It was clearly a misunderstanding. Onana felt no disrespect and the world has moved on, but acts like the one above prove Garnacho is a kind-hearted soul.
He was also one of the brighter sparks in the derby match. Getting praise from Ten Hag in his short cameo.
He may be trusted with a start next game after some terrible Marcus Rashford performances – but that remains to be seen.
Manchester United now play host to Newcastle in the Carabao Cup as we look to retain the trophy. Will we see Garnacho feature from the off in this one?
