Cristiano Ronaldo will miss Manchester United’s match against Chelsea this weekend, due to a disciplinary decision.
The club confirmed Ronaldo wil not be involved, after leaving the pitch at Old Trafford before the final whistle against Tottenham.
Ronaldo’s actions detracted from a strong 2-0 win on the night, and the player has blamed his frustration in the ‘heat of the moment’.
Former teammate Nani offered another suggested explanation for Ronaldo leaving the pitch early.

Nani comes up with strange excuse for Cristiano Ronaldo
Former United winger Nani spoke to offer an excuse for Ronaldo’s actions, suggesting there may be a very simple explanation why he left the pitch prior to the full-time whistle.
He told Mais Futebol: “I don’t know what happened at that moment, but maybe Ronaldo had to go to the bathroom.
“Everyone knows how professional he is. He is a huge professional.
“He maybe he might be frustrated for not being an option. But his will is to be on the field playing. I think there was a reason for what happened, I don’t know.”
As well-intentioned as Nani’s comments are, they are naive and have since been contradicted by Ronaldo himself.
Likewise former teammate Patrice Evra’s suggestion on Amazon that Ronaldo could have been heading down the tunnel for treatment.
The Athletic reported he even left the stadium instead of celebrating in the dressing room
Ronaldo’s explanation on Instagram said he was simply frustrated and blamed the ‘heat of the moment’ for his actions.
While he did not offer an apology, he did pledge to work hard to get back into first team consideration. It just won’t be this weekend.
