‘My friend’ – Rasmus Hojlund delighted with Patrick Dorgu transfer, new signing will be unveiled at Old Trafford today

Patrick Dorgu has become a Manchester United player after joining from Lecce.

Manchester United reached an agreement for Dorgu worth £25 million (€30m) earlier this week, leading to an official announcement on Sunday ahead of a crucial Premier League meeting against Crystal Palace.

Dorgu’s last match for Lecce was against Parma on Friday, but the 20-year-old did not feature after being kept on the bench. He got to say his goodbyes to the Lecce supporters who sent him on his way to Manchester.

The 20-year-old Denmark international will now team up with Ruben Amorim at Carrington to be integrated into United’s first-team.

Dorgu is set to play an integral part in a demanding 3-5-2 system and United fans won’t be subject to watching Diogo Dalot try to perform on his least favoured flank.

Rasmus Hojlund reacts to Patrick Dorgu transfer

Fellow Denmark international Rasmus Hojlund was one of the first United first-team players to welcome Patrick Dorgu to the club via social media.

Dorgu joins a United squad that already contains two Denmark internationals, including Christian Eriksen, who he is likely to lean on for advice on living in Manchester.

Hojlund uploaded a story via Instagram with the caption: “Welcome my friend”

United’s newest signing will likely start training at Carrington on Monday after United’s league meeting with Crystal Palace at Old Trafford.

Dorgu is likely to come into the team quickly due to United’s need for a left wing-back. Luke Shaw has been injured all season and Tyrell Malacia isn’t of the required standard to be every week after a lengthy spell out.

Hopefully, for Hojlund’s sake, Dorgu’s arrival helps the Danish striker in front of goal.

Dorgu set to be unveiled at Old Trafford

There is always great excitement whenever a new signing is announced.

Dorgu isn’t the only young player signing for the club this week, though.

According to reliable United insider Academy Scoop, The Dane will be unveiled at Old Trafford today before kick-off along with Ayden Heaven, who is joining United from Arsenal’s academy.

Heaven joins United following a similar switch to Chido Obi in the summer and it shows Ineos are planning for a bright future at Old Trafford.

It will be a great occasion for both players to be greeted by the Old Trafford faithful.

On another important note, Sunday’s game will see the club’s Munich memorial tributes take place.

The ‘Flowers of Manchester’ will be played through the PA system 15 minutes before kick-off. All supporters are encouraged to raise their scarves aloft from their seats.
