MUTV pundits give verdict on Hannibal Mejbri performance in Manchester United win v Burnley

Hannibal Mejbri shone as Manchester United earned a hard-fought win away at Burnley on Saturday night.

Erik ten Hag turned to Hannibal Mejbri as a solution for Manchester United’s unsettled midfield. After his eye-catching long-range goal against Brighton, a start against Burnley was richly deserved.

It should tell you all you need to know about Hannibal’s performance that he lasted all 90 minutes, with Christian Eriksen an unused substitute.

Hannibal’s display was a mixture of industry and quality, looking settled in and out of possession, showing some reach touches of class on the ball.

Hannibal Mejbri praised

There was high praise for Hannibal in the MUTV studio for the channel’s post-match show.

The official man of the match poll was won by Bruno Fernandes, however, former star Wes Brown said Hannibal was his choice.

Brown said: “He was exceptional. He looked confident, always trying to pass forward, he didn’t shy away from anything.”

There was further praise from another former academy Red, Fraizer Campbell.

Campbell said: “He was brilliant, grew into the game, confident on the ball, he was everywhere at one stage.

“He showed a lot of energy from the kick-off. He got his start and he’s taken his opportunity really well. ” think his manager will be impressed. He’s provided the energy he wanted. He made a real difference today on the pitch.”

Erik ten Hag was impressed

Manager Erik ten Hag was pleased with the impact made by the youngster. Speaking to TNT Sports, he praised: “Hannibal who did a perfect job.”

The Tunisia international impressed during pre-season but has had to wait for his chance. It was unclear throughout the summer whether he would go on loan or stay as a back-up.

Now he has found himself in a prominent role. Whether it lasts, is unclear, however, on Saturday night, Hannibal’s contribution was exactly what Manchester United needed, and it is nice to see him getting the credit for it.
