Manchester United have a decision to make this weekend at right-wing with Antony not available for selection.

All four Premier League games this season, Antony has been the selected starter for Manchester United.

The Brazilian has yielded no goals and no assists, and the decision to drop him has now been taken out of manager Erik ten Hag’s hands, due to off-field issues.

Now the decision is over who will replace Antony, when United face Brighton this weekend at Old Trafford.

‘Start Facundo Pellistri’

Good enough for Uruguay, Facundo Pellistri has made more appearances for his country than he has done for Manchester United – despite signing for the Red Devils in 2020 and only making his international debut in 2022.

After being denied a loan move, surely this is Pellistri’s time to shine, with Antony absent.

Former United prospect Chris Casper told MUTV’s The Debate he believes Pellistri should get the opportunity to link up with new striker Rasmus Hojlund.

He said: “I’d like to see Pellistri play. He’s direct. He’s exactly what Hojlund would need.”

Associated Press journalist James Robson backed the view, commenting: “He [Hojlund] looks like the type of player who probably needs service from wide areas and I think that’s probably a weakness United have got.

“Pellistri probably is that type of player who will feed him, and they need more of that.”

In his very brief appearances, Pellistri has shown an ability to create goals and at some stage, warrants more substantial game time to show what he is capable of.

Pellistri not the only option

There are alternatives for Erik ten Hag to consider. One of which is Jadon Sancho, who could be given a clean slate after plenty of talk over his future.

Another, safer option, may be to play Bruno Fernandes out wide, or even Mason Mount if he is fit again.

Marcus Rashford or Alejandro Garnacho could even be pushed out to the right.

But it is Pellistri who supporters want to see given a chance. If not now, then when?
