Manchester United youngster Dan Gore joined the club’s loan ranks after clinching a move to League One side Port Vale.

After an impressive 2023 in which Dan Gore made his Manchester United first team debut, he is looking to kick on with regular football in 2024.

The first step is to go out on loan for the first time, signing with League One side Port Vale earlier this week.

The move has been welcome by Vale’s boss, who hailed Gore as a player with ‘fantastic technical ability’.

Dan Gore backed to succeed

There are very high hopes for Dan Gore at Manchester United, and there is a confidence that this loan spell will leave him better equipped to succeed, however it goes.

Former Manchester United defender David May told MUTV’s The Debate that he expects Gore to make the most of the opportunity, although warns it will not be easy.

May said: “He’s a tough kid. It’s what he’ll learn off the senior pros as well, training day in and day out with them, and what it’s really like to play down there.

“It is tough but he’ll thrive off it because he’s a good player. He’ll find times in games where probably, because of his reputation of being a Manchester United player, it will count against him as well and people will want to kick him. It’s part and parcel of the game but he’ll be absolutely fine there.

“It’s vitally important these lads get out now. That’s the future of Manchester United. Come back to Old Trafford with that knowledge and that understanding of how the game is played and be better players for it.”

Gore has competitive spirit

Manchester United hope to have a real gem in Dan Gore, who was one of the 2022 FA Youth Cup winners and played in midfield alongside Kobbie Mainoo.

Gore impressed in pre-season for the first team with a match-winning assist against Lyon, and was later lauded by Bryan Robson.

He was even sent off against Wrexham, unfairly, for a strong tackle, which showed his willingness to get stuck in. It was a useful lesson for him which will stand him in good stead for the challenge he has at Port Vale over the coming months.
