Michael Carrick has been named Premier League Manager of the Month for January, despite only returning to Manchester United 13 days into the New Year.

Manchester United’s unbeaten run under Michael Carrick has resulted in an individual award.

Carrick has been confirmed as the Premier League Manager of the Month, after making an instant impact.

After Ruben Amorim was fired, Darren Fletcher stepped in. Between them they failed to win any of United’s three games at the start of January.

Carrick then led United to wins over Manchester City, Arsenal, and Fulham.

He has kept up his unbeaten run into February, with a win over Tottenham and a draw at West Ham.

Carrick wins award quicker than previously

Michael Carrick made a strong start in his previous role at Middlesbrough, nominated for the Championship Manager of the Month.

And he did eventually win the award five months later.

Carrick has fast-tracked his individual honours at United, but he is seeing it as a collective effort.

He posed for a picture with his entire coaching staff, making clear that he is just part of a group leading United back towards winning ways.

Carrick is emerging as a real favourite to land the Manchester United job on a permanent basis.

The challenge for him is to keep up his fast start for United’s upcoming fixtures, and secure Champions League qualification.

United are in the driving seat at present, but lost ground on third place to Aston Villa in midweek, and also allowed Liverpool to gain two points.

There are 12 games remaining, with United’s next fixture in 10 days time. The break might be useful, but it also takes the momentum away, and Carrick must keep his squad galvanised. There is a lot of work left to do.
