Michael Carrick celebrated Anfield win with Man Utd fans in 2016
Although Liverpool had better chances in the game and David de Gea was kept busy, United came away from Anfield in January 2016 with three points.
Wayne Rooney’s late strike secured the win for Louis van Gaal’s side.
While Rooney proved vital for United on the day, Carrick was in the stands, ruled out by injury.
When asked about watching the Anfield win in 2016 from the stands, Carrick said: “Yeah, I’d rather have been on the pitch at that point but I was injured!
“I took the opportunity to go, I think I did it a number of times, to go in the away end and sample it, and feel it, to be connected to it and understand it in that way.
“When Wayne scored there was a bit of celebrating going on and you kind of lose yourself for a moment or two. So there are really good memories of it and it’s been a while obviously since we did that. Hopefully we can produce another good result on Sunday.”
