Michael Carrick has hailed the connection of three Manchester United players, crediting them as one of the key reasons behind Ruben Amorim’s three-game win streak.
Manchester United beat Brighton 4-2 on Saturday evening as Matheus Cunha scored his first goal since joining the club from Wolves. Bryan Mbeumo dominated the headlines with a brace, and Casemiro got on the scoresheet thanks to a deflected shot in the first half.
There is greater optimism around Old Trafford as United fans hope Ruben Amorim’s side have turned a corner after beating Liverpool 2-1 at Anfield. This came after Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s public backing of Amorim, with the squad working hard as a unit to improve results.
The win over Brighton made it three wins in a row. Amorim will be trying to make it four – for the first time as United head coach – when the Red Devils travel to Nottingham Forest on Saturday. A win would see United strengthen their position in the top half of the table.

After leaving Middlesbrough in the summer, Carrick has more free time to work as a pundit on the game.
The former United midfielder appeared on Match of the Day last weekend when he reflected on the latest win at Old Trafford.
Carrick explains that United’s recent form has helped put a smile back on his face, noting that three players have developed a connection that has made the team a force again.
Bruno Fernandes, tasked with playing a deeper role in midfield, has been listed as one of those key players along with Mbeumo and Cunha, who both signed for United in the summer.
“I’ve kind of got a smile on my face because when you get that moment as a footballer, and you get a connection with somebody, and some say it’s a wavelength, and you almost play off instinct,” Carrick said.
“I kind of put it as you almost play with a smile and say because you enjoy playing with each other, and it looks like they’ve [Cunha, Fernandes, Mbeumo] found that connection and two of them have just arrived in the summer, Bruno’s been there for a period of time.”
Mbeumo has been everything United hoped for when they signed him, while Cunha’s contribution has been significant, especially against Liverpool.
Carrick added that there are other players responsible for United’s upturn in form.
He said: “It’s not just them three, but it feels that there’s something really fun about the way they want to play.
“There was a lot on the game today, you know, playing to go three wins after beating Liverpool and everyone going yeah but it’s happened before type thing, a big game to go again, they’ve lost against Brighton in the past, so it was a big game today and I thought they played ever so well.”
Bryan Mbeumo topping charts in October
Mbeumo has hit the ground running at United.
It helps that the Cameroon international arrived at Old Trafford with Premier League experience, having become a talisman at Brentford.
Mbeumo has recorded more goal contributions (4) in October than any other player in the league.
Hopefully, United’s new star can add to his tally against Forest.
