Michael Carrick explains ‘ideal scenario’ which is helping him achieve early success at Man Utd

Michael Carrick has managed to fly out of the blocks at Manchester United in these early fixtures, and it’s down to an ‘ideal scenario’ he constructed at the club.

The Champions League qualification has become more of an expectation rather than a hope after an early blitz to start Michael Carrick’s reign.

Consistency until the end of the season is still a necessity, but Man Utd are at least going in the right direction under new management.

Prove me wrong: Michael Carrick has already shown enough to become permanent Man United manager.

13 points from 15 would be title winning form over a full season…

Carrick has now explained that the early success is powered by the ‘ideal scenario’ he constructed and inherited at Old Trafford.

Michael Carrick’s ‘ideal scenario’ at Man Utd

When Carrick was appointed as the Man Utd manager, he walked into what looked like a baptism of fire, as Man City and Arsenal awaited in his first two games.

He turned that brutal test into a launchpad for future success by winning both, and convincingly so, before extending that streak into a five-game unbeaten run.

The tactical tweaks are noticeable, the dressing room atmosphere is much changed from under Ruben Amorim, and most of it has been down to Carrick’s staff, which has a collection of different personalities.

Carrick has now explained his staff setup as an “ideal scenario”, with frank views exchanged for the betterment of the team.

He said: “Everyone brings something different, which is kind of the ideal scenario, really. They have different personalities, experiences, coming from different angles, but work together.

“That’s the ingredient, that balance you get. It’s great to have different opinions, challenge each other, and throw different ideas. I’m absolutely delighted. Couldn’t have asked for more of the staff.”

Man Utd must not fix what’s not broken

Carrick was meant to be a temporary solution, but the club knows from years of upheaval that they must not fix what’s not broken.

Have you been impressed with Michael Carrick’s coaching staff?

Would you keep them all if he becomes permanent?🤔

In the current coaching setup, Carrick has clearly constructed something that covers for his weaknesses and allows him to do what he does best.

Travis Binnion brings the attacking pedigree, Jonathan Woodgate brings multi-lingualism, Jonny Evans has the club DNA, Steve Holland is the tactical taskmaster, and Michael Carrick brings it all together at the head of the table.

It’s a setup that ticks every box, and the early signs are encouraging, which bodes well for this project long-term as well.

Ineos are unlikely to make a decision until the end of the season, and that’s completely understandable, but they’d be making a huge mistake if they don’t give Carrick the full-time job if this early success endures.
