Two new signings hail Bruno Fernandes after the Manchester United captain gave them both a warm welcome to the club.

Bruno Fernandes has been Manchester United’s most valuable player since moving to Old Trafford from Sporting CP in 2020.

The Red Devils struggled to get positive results last season, but Fernandes was named United’s Player of the Year for a fourth time, yet again proving his importance to the team.

Fernandes was the subject of interest from Saudi Pro League clubs during the summer, but the 31-year-old opted to stay at United. He remains a key player for Portugal ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

Having spent five years at United, Fernandes is one of the most experienced players in the dressing room. It is his role as club captain to welcome new signings as well as lead the dressing room.

Fernandes carried out that role during the summer as United welcomed five new players to the squad.

Bruno Fernandes welcomes Matheus Cunha and Senne Lammens

As far as the fanbase is concerned, Fernandes is one of the most popular members of United’s first team.

That also appears to be the case in United’s dressing room, with new arrivals heaping praise on Fernandes for how he welcomed them to the club.

In a new video shared on X by United, several players talk about their favourite Fernandes moment.

Matheus Cunha and Senne Lammens, who both joined United in the summer, haven’t had much time on the pitch with Fernandes, but they were quick to praise their captain for giving them a warm welcome.

Belgian goalkeeper Lammens has yet to make his debut for United, but was first to compliment Fernandes on his greeting skills. He told MUTV: “First moment I met him, he made me feel welcome at the club. And coming from your captain, yeah, it’s a nice feeling.”

Cunha, who has played with Fernandes, added: “It was when I arrived, he sent me a message, if I needed something, he’ll be there. I think he’s a great captain.”

Hopefully, Fernandes can produce more memorable moments in a United shirt this season.

What’s next for Bruno Fernandes?

After scoring his 100th goal for the Red Devils in United’s 2-1 win over Chelsea, Fernandes is closing in on his 300th appearance.

Fernandes has made 296 appearances for United, meaning he has four more to play before reaching his next milestone.
