Mason Mount has revealed that Manchester United players have noticed one key detail about Ruben Amorim during their time under the Red Devils manager’s reign.

Ruben Amorim is currently taking part in his first pre-season campaign at the Premier League club after the Manchester United manager arrived at Old Trafford.

The 40-year-old Portuguese coach was brought to the Red Devils amid a turbulent 2024-25 campaign after Erik ten Hag was sacked as United manager last October.

Amorim left his role at Sporting CP as manager last November and the United boss had a tough start to life in England after succeeding Erik ten Hag in the dugout.

The former Sporting CP head coach was only able to lead the Red Devils to 15th place in the Premier League, with United struggling for form last season.

Amorim also fell short of lifting major silverware at Old Trafford in the 2024-25 season after United’s 1-0 defeat to Tottenham in the Europa League final in May.

What Mason Mount has noticed about Ruben Amorim as Man Utd manager speaks volumes about him

Ruben Amorim and his men kicked off their pre-season tour last week and Manchester United and Leeds United met in a 0-0 draw at the Strawberry Arena.

Following United’s friendly encounter with Leeds United in Solna, the Red Devils have switched their focus to the United States leg of their pre-season campaign.

Mason Mount played in the second half of United’s 0-0 draw against Leeds in Stockholm last Saturday after he replaced Red Devils signing Matheus Cunha.

The 26-year-old former Chelsea star has now admitted that United manager Amorim is meticulous with his “details” and will fine-tweak things both on the pitch and off it.

“He [Amorim] is massive on details, the small improvements on the pitch or off the pitch, and he’s been really, really big on that,” Mount told The Daily Mail.

“As a group, we know what we need to do in those areas because we need to be performing to the best of our ability.

“It’s important with any new season to set new goals, especially coming off last season.

“As I said before, it’s the details. I think that in some of the games that kind of let us down where we conceded some goals and weren’t creating enough chances.”

United showed vulnerabilities from set-pieces in their 2024-25 Premier League season and Mount insisted that the Red Devils are “trying to improve” now.

“The set-pieces now in the Premier League are so big and teams are really, really focusing on that,” Mount added.

“I think at the beginning, we struggled with that a little bit and we conceded probably too many goals.

“That affects games when they are so tight and you get a set-piece and you can see maybe from a corner, say, it has a big effect on the game and then you’re chasing it again.

“That happened to us quite a bit and that’s something that we obviously looked at already and trying to improve on.”

United will be in the States in both July and August and the Red Devils will face fellow Premier League sides West Ham, Bournemouth and Everton on the tour.
