Mason Greenwood told by Getafe boss his second half performance was not good enough

Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood, who is currently on loan at Spanish giants Getafe, has been told how he can improve.

It’s been a promising return to first-team football for Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood following nearly two years out of football with the academy graduate being linked with a move to Barcelona.

His future at Old Trafford is unclear with Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Ineos prepared to make a decision on the Englishman’s future in the summer and could even sell the 22-year-old on for a healthy profit.

With Greenwood coming through the club’s academy, United would stand to make a decent profit if they decide to cash in on Greenwood in the summer.

Getafe boss on Greenwood

Well, if the Englishman continues to perform as well as he has done in La Liga, then a move in the summer could well be on the cards.

Greenwood netted against Granada in a 2-0 win over the Spanish side which keeps them in 10th and the Englishman now has four goals and four assists in 17 La Liga games.

Speaking after the game, as per The Metro, Getafe boss Jose Bordalas said on Greenwood: “He is a great player but everyone has a job. We are very happy with the work from Greenwood, Borja, Maxi but without everyone’s work he cannot shine.

“Greenwood had a great first half, although not so much in the second half. But everyone has worked for the team. They were aware of the importance of the game and finally we achieved it.”

It did look like Greenwood was to be reintegrated into the United first team but after strong backlash from the fanbase, the decision was taken for a loan move to Getafe.

Greenwood’s loan

It does appear that Greenwood’s loan move has worked out well for the English forward and he looks to be at the level he was at for the Red Devils.

The club will have a big decision to make come the Summer and with Ratcliffe looking to be a popular figure with the decisions he is making off the pitch, bringing Greenwood back might ruin this.

Selling him in the summer, and reinvesting that money in a Michael Olise who is reportedly keen on a move to United, for example, may well be the smartest move the club could make in the off-season.
