This is the first time Mason Greenwood has been spotted with any Manchester United player since his suspension.

Greenwood and Elanga connection

Mason Greenwood and Anthony Elanga are both graduates of Manchester United’s academy and played together for the first team.

Greenwood was in the starting XI against Young Boys when Elanga made his Champions League debut, while both players scored in the win over Brentford in January 2022 which would prove to be Greenwood’s final goal for the club to date.

Soon afterwards Greenwood was arrested, and has not played since, with his career on hiatus while he was later charged.

These charges were dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service earlier this year and he was subsequently placed under an internal suspension by Manchester United.

United are conducting their own investigation into the circumstances leading to Greenwood’s arrest, and will make a decision on his future.

Greenwood is keen to continue his career and is under contract to Manchester United for another two years.

Elanga was recently on international duty with Sweden and is due back at Carrington shortly, although The Mail report he could be sold.

Decision on Greenwood expected

Mason Greenwood is not back at pre-season training as he is still suspended by the club. While he is assigned the number 11 shirt, it is not available to buy on the club store.

He has been linked with a move away from Manchester United on loan, with Talksport claiming Italian side Atalanta are interested.
