Marcus Rashford’s ‘trophy mentality’ hailed after post-match comments

Marcus Rashford led the way for Manchester United in a 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest.

Rashford scored the game’s opening goal and provided an assist for the second, in an excellent individual performance which was bettered only by Casemiro.

Rashford has now scored in five consecutive home games and is now on 10 goals for the season.

This is double the number of goals he scored last season.

Rashford speaks positively after win

Rashford to the media after the game. He was asked by Amazon Prime if this was the best he was playing, which he admitted he wasn’t sure on.

He said he was determined to keep improving, commenting: “I don’t know if it is as good as I’ve ever been playing but I’m definitely enjoying it.

“We’re winning a lot more football games and our level has been a lot higher. Happy with how were developing and hope we can keep kicking on.”

He added that he wants the team’s performances to count positively, and eventually pay off with silverware.

“I think the main thing is that I’m enjoying myself and I’m focused and happy. I’m hoping that can carry on. I want to have a really good season this year and hopefully win a trophy with the club.”

Rashford comments praised

Rashford’s comments were praised by MUTV pundit Dion Dublin after the game, who said he was thrilled to hear the player speaking about trophies.

Dublin said this focus will help the whole team, commenting: “That’s a trophy mentality. If he’s speaking like that, that there’s so much more to come, that’s a positive for the dressing room.”

He inferred that other players will benefit from having the same mentality and drive as Rashford, who is looking to win his and United’s first silverware since 2017.

Rashford performance lauded

Match of the Day host Gary Lineker lauded Marcus Rashford on social media, describing his performance as ‘glorious’.

Rashford was in form for England at the World Cup, scoring three goals, and the Three Lions ultimately paid the price for giving him just four minutes in the quarter-final.
