Former Manchester United players are in agreement in their happiness to see one of the team’s key players lift a trophy.
This has not been an enjoyable season for Manchester United, at all. The one respite has been the FA Cup, a tournament in which the team have given their all.
It’s been a cup run for the ages. From the dramatic 4-3 win over Liverpool to the 2-1 final win over City.
And at the end of it, we were treated to the sight of captain Bruno Fernandes lifting the trophy.

Bruno Fernandes ‘deserves’ FA Cup win
Bruno Fernandes was the unofficial captain last year, and once he was appointed to the role full-time, the criticism came pouring in.
The Portugal international has shaken it off, stayed fit almost all year, and ended the campaign lifting the FA Cup at Wembley, the first time the club had won the trophy since 2016.
Fernandes sent a simple message out on Instagram after the game which read simply: “FA Cup winner.”
Fernandes received congratulatory responses from Champions League finalist Marcel Sabitzer and Odion Ighalo, who were thrilled for his success.
There was another message from David de Gea, a losing FA Cup finalist last year, who wrote: “Nobody deserves it more than you.”

Bruno Fernandes extra message
Bruno Fernandes had an extra message for supporters as he reflected on Manchester United’s win and a truly special day.
He paid tribute to the fans who had stuck with the team through a very testing campaign.
Fernandes wrote: “That a team performance 👏🏼 This is what United is about and this is what we will continue to push for. This is for you reds.”
