Manuel Ugarte has insisted that one Manchester United summer signing will “need some time to adapt” after the player’s arrival at Old Trafford under Ruben Amorim.

Ruben Amorim has been revamping his Manchester United first-team squad this summer and Ineos have backed the Portuguese coach with four signings so far.

The 40-year-old United manager landed Matheus Cunha from Wolves in June before the Red Devils welcomed the arrival of Paraguayan wonderkid Diego Leon in July.

United continued to reinforce after the signings of Matheus Cunha and Diego Leon by adding Bryan Mbeumo to the attacking roster after landing him from Brentford.

Following United’s acquisition of Bryan Mbeumo in July, Ineos secured the fourth major summer signing for Amorim earlier this month with striker Benjamin Sesko.

Manuel Ugarte highlights one major point about Diego Leon after Man Utd’s signing of the wonderkid

Manchester United agreed to sign Diego Leon when he was only 17 years old after reaching an agreement with Paraguayan outfit Cerro Porteno in January.

Leon turned 18 years old in April and the former Cerro Porteno talent left his native homeland and arrived in England to complete his stunning move to Old Trafford.

United fans have already had their first look at Red Devils prospect Leon after the defender featured under Ruben Amorim during the pre-season tour in the summer.

Speaking to United’s official media channels, Manuel Ugarte insisted that Leon faces a “massive change” in his fledgling career with his exit from South America.

“He’s a great player, humble as well, and he’s going to learn a lot,” he said in the club’s ‘First Impressions’ series, as per Manchester United’s official website.

“It’s a massive change, because life here is a very different to life in South America. And football even more as well.

“He has to take it with calmness, he has to enjoy where he is. He has to learn as well; there is a lot to learn.

“And not put too much pressure on him because players who come from South America need some time to adapt.”

Manuel Ugarte’s concerns for Diego Leon’s move from Paraguay to England can be addressed by Man Utd players

Diego Leon is likely to feature in the United first team in the 2025-26 season, with the wonderkid able to fill in for Patrick Dorgu in the left wing-back role.

The Paraguayan talent is thought of highly at Old Trafford and even United supporters could see that Leon was ‘rough around the edges’ during pre-season.

However, Ugarte’s concerns for the United summer signing to adapt to life from South America to England put him in a much better position than other players.

After all, Leon is surrounded in the United dressing room with several teammates who have made the transition from life in South America to European football.

From Brazilian duo Matheus Cunha and Casemiro to Argentine Lisandro Martinez, Leon has the key support in place to help him become more familiar with England.
